42nd Annual Celebrity Sports Night

On May 15th Abilities! hosted its 42nd  Annual Celebrity Sports Night, which raised unrestricted funds in support of programs and services that assist children and adults with disabilities at the Henry Viscardi School and Abilities, Inc.
 
The event, themed “Celebrating the Olympic Games”, honored Glenn S. Rice, President of the UPS Northeast Region.  The United Parcel Service has been a long standing member of the Executive Leadership Team at the National Business & Disability Council promoting equal opportunities for people with disabilities in the business world. 
 
Olympic Figure Skaters JoJo Starbuck and Scott Hamilton, were on hand to receive the Sports Stars of the Year award. 
 
The event, chaired by Angela S. Anton, Publisher and CEO of Anton Community Newspapers, featured over 40 athletes, including current NY Mets – Joe Smith and Aaron Heilman; former NY Mets – Bud Harrelson, Rusty Staub, Darryl Strawberry; WWE Wrestlers – Tommy Dreamer, Mick Foley, Nunzio, and Matt Striker; former NFL greats – Marty Lyons, John Dockery, and Mike Stromberg among many others.

Our students and celebrity athletes performed in a play, The Albertson Olympics which was produced by JoJo Starbuck’s production company, and enjoyed by all in attendance.
