IBM Software at Abilities, Inc.

September 22, 2008

Abilities! held a special recognition ceremony for IBM on September 22, 2008 in honor of IBM’s valuable software contributions to Abilities, Inc.  Pam Haas, Manager of Corporate Citizenship and Corporate Affairs, accepted the award on behalf of IBM.

IBM donated three new software programs:  TraduceloAhora! (Translate Now!) — an instant Spanish translation program for e-mail and websites, Reading Companion — a customized literacy program offering audiofeedback on pronunciation and accuracy, and accessibilityWorks,  which enables people with disabilities to access and interact with the internet more easily.

Kim Welsh, the instructor for the Abilities! English for Speakers of Other Languages Program, demonstrated the new software for the crowd, which included Nassau County Comptroller Howard Weitzman and other dignitaries.  The innovative software will greatly enhance the training programs at Abilities, Inc.
